Are
you interested in living at Harbin?
For centuries,
the land and hot springs here have been regarded by Native Americans
as sacred land and healing waters. Our community of residents
gladly accepts the responsibility of preserving the land and springs
as a sanctuary; and in providing service to our guests who come
for rest, reflection and renewal.
To us, Harbin
is one of few unique and magical places in the world; 1700 acres
nestled on the mountainside, where you breathe the freshest air
and are surrounded by the natural beauty of the land, the sacred
springs, meandering creeks and meadows.
Harbin is an enclave that encourages and nurtures an alternative
lifestyle, away from the anxiety and stress of the fast paced
high tech world that so many are caught up in.
Today, approximately
170 diverse and eclectic individuals from all walks of life, share
a common bond of service and a commitment of individual and community
growth and enlightenment.
The residents consist of men, women and children of all ages and
backgrounds, families, couples and singles; some have been around
as much as twenty years, others have just arrived. Our's a
group of many talents, skills, education levels and life experiences.
Dont
view becoming a Harbin resident as the solution or answer to all
of your lifes questions and predicaments, but rather a place
where the real you emerges, transforming and growing, in your
own way and time, in a supporting and nurturing environment.
You should
come with an open heart, a positive attitude and a good work ethic...
Come with
an open heart because that is the space where we all strive to
hold, for ourselves and all those we interact with on a daily
basis. The name Heart Consciousness has served us well for over
25 years.
Come with
a positive attitude because this is a unique place where we live
and work together. Where you emerge not only in your own humanness
but in your relationships with individuals, groups and community.
Come with
a good work ethic because work is something required of all residents,
and it is this service to our guests and fellow residents that
is the foundation on which we build our individual and collective
experience of community.
New people
are always welcome and needed, and while this place is not for
everyone, it just might be the right place for you. Our slow but
steady growth demands that we continually have an influx of new
people, with talents and skills that further enrich our service
to community.

Our Statement
of Consciousness
Our resident
members operate this retreat and workshop center as a service
to others, with common values guiding our actions. Together we
choose...
To
recognize our reliance on this land, water and air, and be responsible
in our stewardship of it;
To provide an atmosphere of safety, comfort and quiet,
encouraging all to awareness of their own being;
To welcome people of diverse cultural, economic and social
backgrounds;
To create a place where the human body is nurtured, respected
and celebrated;
To behave harmoniously, bringing communication, respect,
integrity and love to our daily interactions;
To explore and present alternatives in the areas of human
potential, bodywork, relationships and holistic thinking;
To cultivate lives of spiritual awareness and presence,
while encouraging others to do the same;
To manage our human and financial resources in a way
that will permit the improvement of Harbin and the support of
related projects;
In all of
our work, decisions and interactions, we choose to use heart consciousness
as our guiding principle.
