Main Hotel, circa 1938

Main Hotel & Gazebo Cars parked on what is now Azalea lawn. The handwriting on this card reads, "June 21, 1938. Dear Mama, We are spending to-night here in the mountains about 20 miles from Calistoga. Had a nice swim in the pool just before dinner. There is badminton, tennis, swimming, ping-pong. It isn't noisy and the trees are beautiful. We expect to go to the Madrones between Calistoga & St. Helena to spend to-morrow night. Lots of love, Florence
P.S. We were stopped by a policeman who wanted to arrest us for messing up the center white line, freshly painted. We talked him out of it. We also had a flat tire far from the beaten track."
